We are one of the organisations spearheading a joint effort by cancer and health charities to tackle the UK’s currently inadequate statutory sick pay arrangement, as a new policy briefing sheds light on the severe impact faced by thousands of people who are only eligible for statutory sick pay if they are unlucky enough to fall ill.

The call comes as workers with a cancer diagnosis shared stories of the impact of surviving on the UK’s very low legal minimum statutory sick pay and the personal difficulties they face.

To read more about the new Cancer Sick Pay Policy Brief, find out how to write to your MP and how individuals have been affected please follow the link below:

The treatment of heavily pretreated patients with metastatic kidney cancer is an unmet medical need and is challenging.

This study looked at the effectiveness and safety of the lenvatinib plus everolimus combination for the treatment of metastatic kidney cancer patients who had previously been treated for their kidney cancer with one or more anti-cancer medicines.

We are delighted that Rose Woodward, from Action Kidney Cancer is a member of the CARE1 Pragmatic Clinical Trial project committee, managing all the patient involvement aspects of the project on behalf of the International Kidney Cancer Coalition.

One of Roses first tasks is to form an International Patient Advisory Board of expert kidney cancer patients & advocates from around world to help guide the study.

CARE1 is a European study coordinated from France, but the study aims to assist oncologists throughout the world to select the best treatment combination treatment for each kidney cancer patient by identifying a common biomarker.

In 2020, Europe saw over 138,000 new cases of clear cell renal carcinoma (RCC) the most common form of kidney cancer resulting in 50,000 deaths.

Leading kidney cancer clinicians and experts from across Europe have come together as the CARE1 project committee to determine priorities in research and to launch this important kidney cancer clinical trial. This consortium brings together 14 partners representing 8 European countries and is funded by the European Union.
